Taking Back Your Attention: Screens, AI, and What Comes Next

Please join us this Mother’s Day Eve for an intimate brunch and conversation on something many of us are quietly grappling with: how screens are shaping our attention, our relationships, and the way we move through the world.

Julie is a former New York Times journalist who spent years reporting on the mental health crisis before launching MAMA — a growing movement focused on restoring healthier boundaries around technology, particularly for young people. Her work opens up a broader set of questions many of us are already asking: how to be more intentional with our time, our focus, and our connection to one another in an increasingly digital world.

Over coffee and light bites in a private Upper East Side home, we will ask you to leave your phone at the door (we'll give it back, promise!) and explore IRL:

• How doomscrolling, alerts, and algorithmic feeds shape our attention and neurobiology

• What constant connectivity is doing to relationships, community, and daily life

• How to use AI and new technologies without outsourcing thinking or slipping into “brain rot”

• Practical ways families, schools, and individuals are creating healthier boundaries

• What it actually looks like to reclaim time, focus, and presence

   

There will be time for conversation, questions, and connection with others thinking seriously about these issues.
