On June 13, families gathered for a special Mother-Daughter Paint & Sip event led by artist and educator Melissa Lawson of Mindful Masterpieces with Melissa. Designed for mothers and daughters in fourth grade and older, the workshop offered a unique opportunity to spend quality time together while expressing creativity, engaging in meaningful conversations, and sharing tools that help children build confidence and healthy boundaries.
Participants enjoyed a guided painting session, creating beautiful works of art as they explored connection, self-expression, and personal empowerment in a welcoming and supportive environment. Throughout the afternoon, Melissa gently wove in age-appropriate discussions about safe body boundaries, respect, and personal safety. Drawing on her own experiences as a domestic violence survivor and her passion for empowering young people, she created a space where families could engage with important topics in a thoughtful and encouraging way, using creativity as a tool to build confidence and strengthen communication.
We are grateful to Melissa for sharing her talents and vision, and to all of the mothers and daughters who participated in this special afternoon.
